Private car, guide and interpreter in China
Tour guide
A guide is for sightseeing: what you are looking at, how long to stay, and which gate is worth the hour. A guide is not an interpreter for a negotiation, and this page does not list rates.

What a guide is for
Museums, temples, old towns, and park zones where the labels are thin or the layout is confusing. In Beijing that might be the palace; in Xi'an the pits; in Lhasa the monasteries, including what visitors may and may not do.
A guide can travel in the private car. Ask for both when the sights are spread out. Ask for the guide alone when the day is on foot.
What to send
City, dates, party size, and the language the guide should work in. The language of this website is a separate choice. Tell us interests — history, food, photography, a slow pace — and anything the group cannot do, such as long stairs.
- Tickets you already hold, especially timed entries
- Children's ages
- If a meeting sits in the same day and needs an interpreter instead
How the match works
China On Call matches a guide who covers that city and language on those dates, then sends a plan and a quote on WhatsApp. We do not publish a wall of personal profiles.
English and Mandarin are the usual requests. Other languages are confirmed only when a person is free. Hong Kong and Macau are outside this service.
Questions
Can the guide drive?
Do not assume it. If you need a car, ask for a private car as well. We will say when one person can cover both roles.
Do you guarantee a named guide from a website?
No. We introduce the person who fits the brief. You will know who is coming before you confirm.
What if we only have one day?
Say which single place matters. A guide is more useful on a tight day than a list of five gates.
Are tickets included in a published price?
There is no published price. The quote will say what the guide's time covers and which entries you still hold yourself.
From the how-to notes

Tour guide or interpreter: which brief to send
A guide explains a place. An interpreter carries a conversation. Here is how to tell them apart before you write.
Start from a published city
Another mainland city can be named in the form. Hong Kong and Macau are outside this service.
