Airport private-car pickup in mainland China

An airport pickup on this site is a private car and a driver who meet you after you have your bags. It is not a self-drive rental, and it is not a taxi you hail at the rank. China On Call does not sell the air ticket, and the page does not show a rate. The quote comes back on WhatsApp after the arrival is specific enough to match.

Name the airport, not only the city

Several cities on this site have more than one airport, and some arrivals are not in the city you will sleep in. Beijing Capital and Beijing Daxing are different meets. Shanghai Pudong and Shanghai Hongqiao are different meets. Chengdu, Xi'an, Guilin, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Chongqing, Lhasa, Urumqi, and Kashgar each have their own field; send the code from the boarding pass of the flight you actually step out of.

Zhangjiajie airport and the park gates are not the same stop. Huangshan’s usual airport is a further drive from the mountain. Yangshuo has no commercial airport of its own, so a Guilin landing plus the road south is the ordinary car. Suzhou often starts at a Shanghai airport or at Sunan Shuofang: say which. Yichang’s airport and a cruise dock are different addresses. If you only write the city, the coordinator has to guess the curb.

What to send before you fly

• Airport name or code, and the terminal if it is already on your ticket.
• Flight number and the scheduled landing time in China local time.
• Whether you clear immigration on this leg or you are already inside the mainland.
• Party size, ages of children, and the number of large bags.
• Hotel area, or the station or dock if you are not going to a hotel.
• A WhatsApp number that still receives messages when you land.
• The language you want at the curb. A driver may only manage the meet. Ask for a guide if you want the ride explained.

The hotel room number can wait. The area cannot. “Near the Bund” and “Pudong riverside” are different drives from the same Shanghai airport.

Where the driver waits

The usual meet is after baggage claim, at the arrivals point the airport allows for private cars, with a sign that uses the wording you sent. Do not put a personal story on the sign. A short name or the flight number is enough, and we confirm the exact door in the same thread once the flight is real. International arrivals take longer than domestic ones. If your ticket connects through a second mainland airport, the meet is where you walk out with your bags, not at the first airport printed on the itinerary.

Delays, early landings, and a second car

If the flight slips, write the new time in the same WhatsApp thread. Do not start a second booking before that message. A coordinator will say whether the meet can move, or whether the day has to be redrawn. An early landing is the same kind of note: the driver is matched to a window, not to a rumor on the arrivals board.

Bags, children, and the vehicle

Count people and large bags together. A sedan that is comfortable for two travelers with cabin bags is the wrong shape for a family, a stroller, and three checked cases. Say if anyone needs the front seat, or cannot manage a high curb. Folding wheelchairs and extra child seats have to be asked for; do not assume they are in the trunk.

The airport and the rest of the day

A short domestic hop that lands in the morning can sometimes continue as a city day. A long-haul night landing plus the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army, or a Zhangjiajie gate is usually two jobs. Say both if you want both. We would rather split them than sell a day that starts in the immigration hall.

Lhasa arrivals need the airport named early. The drive into the city is its own leg, and the first day should stay light because of the altitude. Permits and arrangements may apply; we confirm the current rules when you enquire. Hong Kong International is outside this service, even if your next hotel is on the mainland. We meet at mainland airports only.
